Sheriff Deputies have been called to the railroad tracks on N. Dalton to slow down traffic. At least two drivers have experienced punctured tires due to exposed concrete and metal at the railroad crossing. The ledge, which is normally flush, sticks up more than an inch above the gravel.
Earlier this month a spokesman from BNSF Railway said that they would be using standard procedures to replace railroad ties along the lines in Deer Park and that this work would not cause any interruption to traffic or the community.
There is no word on when the exposed crossing edge will be amended, or who exactly is responsible for making sure that no more damage is caused. In the meantime, please use caution if you cross the tracks on N. Dalton.
